Monday, Jan. 18 was the start of National Non-Smoking Week. To help Humber ITAL students butt out their cigarettes, Leave The Pack Behind started their contest encouraging smokers to quit or cut down their smoking. The program also encourages non-smokers to stay smoke free
Laura Webster is one of the students running Leave the Pack Behind. Webster says smokers who have support are 80% more likely to successfully quit smoking.
To help convince those who want to quit, Leave the Pack Behind is offering prizes of laptops, iPods and personal training vouchers.
All the pamphlets and incentives used by Leave the Pack Behind are specifically tailored for college students.
“Leave the pack Behind is a peer-to-peer program for students, by students. We can relate to them better,” says Webster.
