Traditions meant to be left alone

With constant rallies and propaganda embedding the message of “save our planet” into our minds, it’s no wonder the world has grasped the reigns of the “green scene.” While I’ll admit, my efforts have been few and far between when it comes to earth-saving measures, I have no problems with individuals who devote their time to such a cause and support their efforts. But like anything else, there is a line, and by transforming a traditional celebration for children and neighbourhood social event into a platform for such messages, they’ve crossed that line.

With Major League Baseball’s Toronto Blue Jays and Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC both already eliminated from their respective playoffs before they even started, and the National Hockey League’s Toronto Maple Leafs having won just once in their first nine games, it’s up to the Toronto Raptors to bring something that is rare back to Toronto: success.

The typical notion that badminton is more of a leisurely “game” than an extreme, physically intense sport is an ill-informed one.
In fact, shuttlecocks are the fastest traveling objects in common sports, and a quick glance at Rosanna U’s bulging calf muscles proves that badminton takes brawns.

Hawks basketball aims high

Expectations are running high this year for Humber ITAL’s men’s basketball team as they prepare for the 2009-2010 season with the National Championships being the end goal.
Last year the men’s team won their eleventh provincial championship, their third in the last five years. They made it to the National Championship semi-finals only to lose to a team from Calgary who won the title.
