Harper gets burned by climate change initiative

I don’t know about any of you readers, but this December, my cheeks were rosier then usual and it wasn’t from the turbulent winds outside. I have shuddered at our government, I have been unhappy with some of its decisions, but new this year, I am officially embarrassed by it.

Michelle Commandant, a 19-year-old Kinesiology student from the University of Guelph-Humber, discovered her interest in basketball throughout life. Starting at the age of eight, she played basketball for 12 years. In that time, her interests evolved.
“I used to love every sport; now basketball is really my passion and what I want to do,” she explained.

Being that it’s only two weeks after New Years, the assumption is that most of us are still sticking to those resolutions we cast for ourselves heading into 2010. For some it means actually sticking with that workout regiment or even a healthier way of eating.

Hearty eating after the holidays

After a relaxing and care-free holiday break, the last thing we want to do is jump on a treadmill and kick our booties back into shape. It’s always great to feel fit and healthy, but when we’re tempted with the lick-your-lips, scrumptious treats we indulged in a week before, it can be tough. In many cases, people will look at dieting as their escape plan, although sometimes the diet may not only be torturous, but also unhealthy for your body.

Canada vs. U.S.A: Close but no cigar

The 2009-2010 International Ice Hockey Federation World Juniors Tournament ended last Tuesday, Jan. 5. Canada battled the U.S.A. for gold and lost with a sudden death victory shot.
The entire season saw some great action on the ice from the Canadian team. Team forward, Taylor Hall, opened the scoring for Canada in their first game against Sweden on Sunday, Dec. 20. Hall paved the way for five more goals for Canada, ending the game with a 6-2 victory.
