Something has got to give by Meagan Thibeault
January 14, 2009

Imagine the economy is a balloon and money is air. Now recall that impulsive kid at the party that always had to impress everyone by blowing up the biggest balloon. Although that kid never disappointed, someone was always left crying at his expense. Pop. At some point, something’s gotta give. Businesses and politicians are always insisting that the economy must grow. This philosophy is what kicked off our present financial crisis with the credit crunch. Pets can be friends too by Thomas Hurst
January 14, 2009

Having a pet can be time consuming, and often stressful. Training the young puppy to go outside, cleaning up after that pesky bird who somehow manages to get more food outside the cage than it consumes, or dealing with the smell left behind by hamsters, guinea pigs, and rabbits. The Great Hockey Debate by Mark Millard
January 14, 2009

The tragic death of a young hockey player has sparked a debate throughout the hockey world. The coma resulted from an on-ice fight, where Sanderson lost his helmet, fell and hit his head on the ice, knocking him unconscious.

January 14, 2009

The International Ice Hockey Federation’s Under 20 World Junior Championship has always been a special tournament for me. Every year on Boxing Day it begins, and for two weeks I am treated to amazing hockey in its purest form. These kids are not playing for big contracts and superstardom, but instead for their teammates and their country. The tournament ended just over a week ago, with the result being a familiar one: Canada winning gold.

January 14, 2009

After a perfect 10-0 start to the season, the Humber Hawks women’s volleyball team spent a portion of their holiday break in Cuba for an exhibition tournament against some of the country’s top teams. The teams they went up against were coached by former Cuban national players and some of the teams featured players currently playing on the Cuban national team. “It opened our eyes to a different style of competition and gave us the opportunity to get away while facing some quality competition,” Head Coach Chris Wilkins said.
