February 11, 2009

by Carmen Brosseau
Black History Month is officially underway; the Human Rights and Diversity members at Humber ITAL hosted its kick-off event on Feb.4, in the concourse. At North campus the celebration stands for achieving excellence through innovation, and respecting diversity at Humber.
A spoken word artist, Dwayne Morgan, performed several motivational speeches which he wrote himself. The words reflected upon the black community and the struggles which different genders and races experience in society. To add some light entertainment to the event, Suzette Vidale, a steel pannist, performed the national anthem as well as the African Canadian anthem.
