HSF welcomes back students with eventful week

While the highlights of Frosh Week may have been provided during the evenings, it was the frosh events during the day that really welcomed Humber ITAL students back to school.
“It’s the first week back to school so we wanted to welcome the students back in a positive way,” Humber Students’ Federation VP of Campus Life at Lakeshore, Bryan Tran, said. “Orientation was great but it’s only for the first-years; we wanted to include both new and returning students.”

Late Friday night, rather early Saturday morning, Humber ITAL could have easily been mistaken for one of Toronto’s gnarliest, illmatic, and live scenes. The Humber Students’ Federation Amphitheatre transformed itself into a non-stop energetic dance party, with a vowel-less act being the reason: MSTRKRFT.

Beach etiquette: Draw the line

Although summer has quickly come to an end, I was able to squeeze in one last day at the beach last Monday. A hot cloudless day made the beaches in Toronto a perfect escape to catch the last sunrays of the year before school starts. The last day of the Canadian National Exhibition was going on, as well as the Toronto Air Show. Traffic was crazy so my friends and I were getting antsy to finally be able to relax.

Fantasy sports have become such a phenomenon that the National Football League is considering fining the New York Jets for not putting Brett Favre on the injury report last season. With the billions of dollars that are wagered on games and the millions that are put into fantasy sports, the NFL ensures every fan is on a level playing field by making all such information public.

The other day while I was out with a friend, I joked about how I’m only eight years away from being 30. While it’s obvious that eight years is quite a long time, I found myself missing my childhood a lot more this summer than ever before.
