Humber Hawks dropping eagles

The Humber Hawks men’s golf team is finding continued success in 2009.
September opened with a bang as Humber competed amongst the National College Athletics Assciation (NCAA) ranks in the Auld Crafters Kisor Classic in Pataskala, Ohio. The team captured the silver medal after shooting a combined +10.

Hawks give back to their fans

The bleachers were packed at Humber Valley Field on Sunday, Sept. 20, where both the women’s and men’s varsity soccer teams played against the Fanshawe Falcons, and both of our teams came out with a victory.
The women’s game started at 1 p.m. and the lady Hawks got off to a great start. Keyla Moreno was the star of the game, scoring two goals. The Recreation and Leisure student was selected as Humber’s Player of the Game. She also scored four times during the season opening game Sept. 18 in Hamilton. Moreno came out of the game excited and happy with the 5-1 win, especially since it was on home turf.

Artist Profile: Deborah Hansen

Deborah Hansen is a third- year student of the Contemporary Music Degree program at Humber ITAL’s Lakeshore campus. At first glance, Deborah is shy, reserved and doesn’t say much but as the interview progressed and she started to talk about her music, her reservations slowly fell away.
“I’ve always been interested in music. I used to sing in the school and the church choir back home. I think that’s where I get a lot of my confidence to perform from.” Hansen said.

iPod battle brought life at the HSF Student Center

iPod enthusiasts had the chance to win an Apple MacBook courtesy of the Humber Students’ Federation on Sept. 23 The iPod battle was hosted in the Student Centre at North campus; it started at noon and ran for three hours. The event also took place at Lakeshore on Sept. 24 in the H cafeteria.

Students were able to fill out ballots before the event, and two names were drawn at a time to compete against each other. Overall, 48 students competed, packing the Student Centre with onlookers. Dancing and cheering brought the battle to life.
