Frosh Flashback by Nicole Chapman
September 22, 2008

The Humber Students’ Federation held nothing back for this year’s Humber Tropics Frosh Week.

The theme, Humber Tropics, was to give a summer feel to the back to school drear as students headed back to the classrooms.

There were two full weeks of events beginning on Sept. 2 and stretching out until Sept. 12.

Some of the events included beach volleyball, free t-shirt airbrushing, a trip to nightclub, a boat cruise and three performances by Fito Blanko, K-os and Girl Talk just to name a few.

“The HSF Foam Party had over 1,400 [students] come through the doors, but I felt the Hot Tub party with Girl Talk was the best event of Frosh,” Programming Director for HSF, Aaron Miller said. “The crowd loved it, the hot tubs were full most of the night and the DJ was amazing. It might have been my favourite event I have done in my six years working here.”

Although some events were rescheduled due to schedule conflicts, the Humber Tropics Frosh Week was a huge success to kicking off the school year.

Humber College was also paid attribution too for their amazing frosh week in the Torontoist blog, http://torontoist.com/2008/08/frosh_weak.php.

“[The blog] shows that the HSF not only puts on better concerts than any other college in Canada but is up there with any other school in the country,” Miller added.

Students can look forward to the HSF putting on many more exciting events in the months to come.
