Humber students set off to sea this year with the first annual Humber Students’ Federation boat cruise.
More than 130 students from the Lakeshore and North campuses boarded the ship of Frosh dreams, viewing the city from off the shores of Lake Ontario.
Dressed in their finest duds, students danced the night away offshore under the stars on the Aurora Borealis, a cruise ship made for partying Humber style.
As the first ever Frosh event of its kind, North’s VP Administration Amanda Connolly said the event was a clear success.
“I think it was a great event because it was so affordable. It was a good way for students to still be taking part in Frosh, but with an off-campus feel. It’s something a little different than students are normally used to,” Connolly said.
The night sailed on with hors d'oeuvres served to hungry travelers to ensure high energy levels for the night’s dance-off competition.
The Humber sailors showcased their best moves with hopes of winning HSF swag. The winners were given lanyards, lipgloss and a sweater, perfect to keep warm in the cool of a night on the water.
It was boys versus girls as students squared off, getting down to the tunes of the night to win not only some free stuff, but also the admiration of their peers.
VP Campus Life of North and Lakeshore Aynur Duzgeren and Shugufa Kaker joined the competition, entering their moves into the dance circle.
Lead Events Assistant for the HSF and Guelph-Humber student David Kelly said that the dance-off was the most exciting part of the evening,
“It was a great way to get students energized. We received a lot of positive feedback for that one,” Kelly Said.
